The Process

The Wildreader session operates on a school year/summer cycle, with the first session of the year beginning on September 1st, and ending on May 31st. The summer session begins June 1st, and ends August 31st. The point requirement for certificate awards must be reached before the end of the session. At the end of each session, the point totals for each participant reader will be set back to zero (0) and a new reading session will begin immediately.

School Session: September 1st - May 31st
Summer Session: June 1st - August 31st

The number of points required to receive a session certificate will change occasionally, from session to session, depending on performance levels of participants. The point system for per-book completion is arbitrary and up to the teacher or administrator who is maintaining participating readers and their records. The library may be used as a guide for suggested books and suggested points to give for each completed book. However, the numbers provided are only a suggested number. Actual points given may be more or less, normally depending on the level of difficulty for the reader and time spent on the book. There is no limit to the number of points a reader may accumulate during the session. Points exceeding the number required for certificate award will not be carried over to the following session and no mare than 1 certificate is awarded per session period.
